Chocolate Protein Smoothie

It’s starting to get a little bit warmer here in Central Idaho. As temperatures change I also tend to change what we eat and drink. I’m love drinking smoothies and that’s one of the things I truly miss when I used to live in Souther California, the amount of fresh pressed juices and smoothies around the city was incredible.

Now, I get to make my own smoothies and pressed juices at home. One of the benefits of making my own drinks is that I can control exactly what goes in and sugar content. I don’t like to consume refine sugars so I always look for alternative ways to sweeten baking goods and drinks.

My Chocolate Protein Smoothie is super simple and fill you up as it contains whey protein, healthy fats from almond butter and a serving of fruit from bananas. I like to add collagen as well but this ingredient is optional so you can leave it out if you want. I like to blend all the ingredients minus the ice first to give a smooth constancy and making sure all the powder ingredients milk well, I add the ice to the blender last and blend for a few more seconds.
