Matcha is such a powerful super food, full of antioxidants, good sources of caffeine and other great benefits. Matcha which is finely grounded powder from of specially grown and processed ;green tea leaves, traditionally consumed in ;East Asia. The traditional ;Japanese tea ceremony ;centers on the preparation, serving, and drinking of matcha as hot tea, and embodies a meditative spirituality.

Today, matcha is known world wide and we drink it at any time, any day hot or cold, we use it for baking, cooking and even for skin care. Ceremonial matcha is probably the best bitter matcha I have tasted, there are some brands out there that make matcha but is not as pure as ceremonial qualities so they taste bitter and sometimes unpleasant.

I’m not a big drinker of hot matcha, I rather dink this amazing tea over ice and with a little sweetener. This recipe is great for an afternoon pick me up or if you’re replacing coffee with matcha and don’t mind early morning ice drinks this recipe is for you.

Matcha tea can be mixed with water or non-dairy milk. There are many sites out there that don’t recommend drinking matcha with animal milk as the beneficial compounds bind with dairy calcium and are removed before being absorbed into your body system. The oxylates in green tea bind with calcium.
I personally like drinking matcha with oats milk or almond milk.
One other thing to keep in mind when making a matcha drinks even if is cold, you need to dissolved the matcha powder in hot (not boiling) water or milk using a matcha bamboo whisk or frother. You can also use a fork but it will be a bit more difficult to dissolved this very fine powder.
